MSG RISING

Monosodium glutamate, the additive known as MS, may be poised for a comeback after 40 years in culinary limbo.  Last year, a panel of international scientists in Stuttgart, Germany, concluded that even when administered in abnormally high doses, MSG is "harmless for the whole population," including the unborn and people with asthma. -- Kelly Kingman
