{"id":2525,"date":"2023-04-20T13:57:26","date_gmt":"2023-04-20T13:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.truthinlabeling.org\/blog\/?p=2525"},"modified":"2024-02-21T04:42:57","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T04:42:57","slug":"industry-safety-propaganda-on-artificial-sweeteners-sounds-very-familiar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/truthinlabeling.org\/blog\/2023\/04\/20\/industry-safety-propaganda-on-artificial-sweeteners-sounds-very-familiar\/","title":{"rendered":"Industry \u2018safety\u2019 propaganda on artificial sweeteners sounds very familiar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In mid-March, <em>USA Today<\/em> carried an article questioning the safety of increasingly popular sugar substitutes, which, according to author Karen Weintraub are being \u201cadded to everything from sodas to toothpaste, lip balm, to snack items.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a great article in which Weintraub tells it like it is, presenting industry\u2019s claims of artificial sugar safety as well as noting that studies are now raising concerns about the health effects of these substitutes.\u00a0 But as I read, my mind wandered, and it seemed as if I was reading about glutamic acid in flavor-enhancers, because the words that Weintraub quoted sounded just like the industry propaganda used by the Glutes to convince consumers that flavor-enhancers like MSG are harmless.
