How much do you think Abbey (from Abbey\u2019s Kitchen) got paid by Ajinomoto for her YouTube production \u201cThe truth about MSG safety?\u201d It\u2019s presented as a \u201csimple video\u201d that will break down \u201cthe real truth about MSG safety with science.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She hasn\u2019t covered all of the favorite \u201cMSG is safe myths,\u201d but in 13+ minutes, she\u2019s incorporated most of the propaganda pieces now being used in the $10,000,000 PR campaign being run by Edelman Public Relations for Ajinomoto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are versions of Ajinomoto\u2019s stock boldfaced lies, such as \u201cMSG\u201d (a totally manufactured product) \u201coccurs naturally in many protein-rich foods.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are Abbey\u2019s criticisms of Dr. Vincent Bellonzi, attacking his statements that MSG is neurotoxic (which it is), or that it can cross the blood brain barrier (which it can).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in good glutamate-industry fashion, she lands a negative term or two in her discussion of those who claim that MSG is toxic. \u201dRacist\u201d is a favorite one. We haven\u2019t seen \u201cvague, arm-waving\u201d previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, she gets in the bit about MSG being a good way to lower sodium in food. That seems to be the big push right now, following closely on the umami flavor of excitotoxic glutamate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
